We’re over the snow and cold weather just as much as you are…trust me. It’s time to leap forward into a blossoming spring with new music to help you get out of your winter blues. There’s nothing better than starting your day with a playlist since music gets us through all of life’s events. Here is a list of new artists to listen to this spring:

Summer Walker

With the new season approaching, we are ready for all things new and are so glad we have Summer Walker multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer. Walker, is an Atlanta-based artist whose smooth vocals will make your days feel a little warmer. Walker is label-mates with artists Raury, DRAM, and 6LACK. If you haven’t heard of Summer Walker yet you will because the remix to her song, Girls Need Love by Drake, is currently #1 on the charts. Notable songs: Girls Need Love, CPR and Karma.

Sharon Van Etten

I’m not sure about you, but I think we’ve definitely been missing a little rock and roll in our lives. We love all genres and want to take you back to the 1990s when every genre of music was at a time when expressing yourself through music was the norm. Sharon Van Etten, who’s giving us Joan Jett vibes, is gracing us with her powerful edgy vocals and a smooth pop-rock feel on her album Remind Me Tomorrow. Etten takes what we love about music way back when, and transforms it into something new and refreshing with her single Come Back Kid. Her most recent single Seventeen, makes you want to go back to high school where we were carefree and not full of the worries of adulthood. Notable Songs: Seventeen, Comback Kid and Malibu.

Mr. Jacob Banks

If spring is for finding new things, including love, then we think you can find a lot of love with Mr. Jacob Banks. He’s gives us so much feels on his song Unknown (To You). Banks, a Nigerian born British-based singer, is set to be the next artist everyone needs on their help me get through life’s playlist. He has toured with a few of your favourite artists: Emile Sande, Sam Smith and Alicia Keys. His goal is to bring back the love of soul music and we think that he’s on his way to doing so. Notable Songs: Chainsmoking, Unknown (To You) and Slow Up.

Najuah

Najuah, is a Canadian girl-duo making waves with their new single Running a stunning slice of synth-pop with dreamy vocals and a super catchy chorus. The accompanying music video features the sisters with their eclectic fashion style and pops of vibrant colour” (Neon Music Magazine Uk). For this song, they teamed up with Atlanta based producer Donovan Jarvis (Chris Brown, Young Thug, Kevin Gates), Grammy award-winning mixing engineer Gary Noble who won for his work with Amy Winehouse, and female powerhouse Grammy award-winning sound engineer Emily Lazar (SIA, Ruth B, HAIM). Canada may be the cold north, but luckily it’s the land of talented artists who will warm things up this spring. Notable songs: Running

Billie Ellish

At just 17, Billie Ellish, American singer and songwriter has been able to garner a billion streams in a short amount of time. Ellish is just getting started and we are definitely here for it. While we are just falling in love with her song Wish You Were Gay, Ellish says she’s over it now! If you already have this song on your playlist then be sure to add Bury A Friend. In the words of Ellish, “I’m really different from a lot of people and I kind of try to be. I don’t like to follow the rules at all.” We couldn’t agree more! Her album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, drops this month (March 2019) and we can’t wait to hear the rest. Notable Songs: Wish You Were Gay and Bury A Friend.
